The Annenberg Community Beach House at Santa Monica State Beach is a public facility located on five acres of oceanfront property. Originally developed in the 1930s by William Randolph Hearst for actress Marion Davies, the property was a site for a 110-room mansion. The project involved rehabilitation of the historic Marion Davies Guest House and pool, as well as construction of new amenities such as a splash pad, children’s play area, and gallery.
Shaw & Sons’ work includes all hardscape including Cibola Gold Lithocrete, Shaw Beige integral color, light etch finish, and aqua heat fractured glass Lithocrete. The historic pool tile was recycled and re-installed. The pool deck concrete was “cast through” and the historic tile was inlayed to allow for a super-flat and hand-crafted appearance.
